As our second year gets into full swing and we are happy to be receiving a number of great referrals. Our project highlights this quarter include Woolf Works, a co-working office for women and Guava Pass, Asia’s fastest growing fitness and health class pass provider. We are also happy to announce a new member of our team: Sally Cooper. She has taken on the role of Project Coordinator and will be a key asset in helping to manage our projects.
Woolf Works – Completed May 2016
Aym Design was approached by the founder of Woolf Works to design a fit-out for a women’s only co-working premise. The brief was to retain the calm atmosphere curated in the current office and apply this, along with in-depth space planning to the new premises. Woolf Works provides not only a co-working space but also a place for meetings, events and community activities – thus it was necessary to create a functional but flexible design. Effective space planning was a critical factor in this project. We needed to maximise the volume of desk space, whilst allowing for comfort and privacy in an open plan office environment.
We achieved this by carefully dividing the floorplan into several designated working zones – a space for full-time co-workers, a space for casual members and a quiet zone for those that require a few hours of uninterrupted work time. Alongside this main office space, we included a large insulated meeting room for functions and group sessions and two smaller ‘cozy’ rooms for one-on-one coaching. These were all placed directly off the reception to allow groups to enter and exit without disrupting those in the main office.
We also produced a large, bespoke, wall graphic to act as the centerpiece of the space. Our intent was to carry across elements of their last office which was situated in a typical Peranakan shop house on the East Coast of Singapore. The artwork ties the office together nicely and reflects the local Chinese and Singaporean culture seen outside.
The end result exceeded the client’s expectations and has provided over 40 (and growing!) women a fantastic working environment.
Guava Pass – In Progress – Completion due August 2016
Guava Pass is taking Asia by storm and revolutionizing the way people workout.
Aym Design has been brought on board to fit-out a pop-up HQ on Singapore’s famous Orchard Road. This space, also known as the Guava Labs, forms the foundation for their Singapore and Asia expansion strategy. The Lab will be used for running fitness classes – from yoga to body pump and for holding events with sponsors and clientele.
The vision called for a juxtaposition of styles – “street-meets-zen” – to create a unique, fusion experience which challenges the traditional gym ideals. A diverse material palette of exposed brick, concrete and luxe marble will work together for a rich visual and tactile space. We are also collaborating with local street artists to create bespoke graffiti artwork to dramatise the space and capture the Guava Pass brand. We look forward to updating you further as the project progresses.
