VenturesOne Announces A Joint Investment of 2 Million Euros in Sustainable Cosmetics Scale-up, Naïf
The Hague, 6 August 2019. DOEN Participaties, VenturesOne and a Family Office based in The Hague have announced an investment of 2 million euros in the sustainable skincare brand, Naïf. Using this investment, The Hague-based scale-ups’ goal is to make the cosmetic market even more sustainable and expanding online sales to grow tenfold over the coming five years.
“We are incredibly happy with this investment”, say Sjoerd Trompetter and Jochem Hes, the Founders of Naïf. “It enables us to reach even more people with our mission and to make even more impact. We want to show everyone that sustainability is very normal and that wonderful care products can be perfectly sustainable. ”
Wilbert Keunen, Director at VenturesOne, is enthusiastic about Naïf, “natural products are growing in appeal to product-smart women and mothers who want to care for their family’s skin whilst doing no harm to their loved ones or the environment ”. Speaking on why this investment opportunity was attractive to VenturesOne, he adds: “Naïf has lots of potential to scale-up internationally in an industry growing at almost 6% C.A.G.R.”. Vanessa Onnes, Director at VenturesOne, says that “in a short amount of time, the Naïf team has built a trusted skincare brand that consumers are coming back for, both in-store and online”.
With their line of sustainable skincare, Naïf’s products are people-friendly and environment-friendly. Their products are made without unnecessary chemicals, plastic microparticles, parabens, allergens or other harmful ingredients. A large portion of their cosmetics come in sustainable packaging – for example, their tubes are made from cane sugar, which is used as a plastic substitute. Naif’s ambitions for creating zero waste by 2021 have been well-received by the global cosmetics community with their products available at 1200 points on sale in twelve countries.
When Jochem Hes and Sjoerd Trompetter had children in 2013, they discovered that even in skincare products for babies there are ingredients that are harmful. Together they founded Naïf: a reliable skincare brand for babies, children and women without chemicals, parabens, microplastics or allergens. Naïf makes skincare products with ingredients that are friendly to people and the environment. Naïf also strives for sustainable and 100% recycled packaging and a transparent raw material plan. At the moment, 80% is made from bioplastic. The target? Zero waste in 2021. Their products are used in daycare centres, hospitals and hotels including the Four Seasons Hotels. The products are also sold online through their own webshop and numerous online points of sale.
